While the word ‘customised’ can be something of a cliché where training programmes are concerned, it is no less true of the way we design Explora programmes. It is important to us that we understand clients’ requirements and desired outcomes. As skilled facilitators, we observe participants in ‘real-time’ during the programme and adjust the programme accordingly where required or appropriate. The activities may be similar – the key difference lies in the way we facilitate the learning the participants derive.
As an example, many training providers offer kayaking as an activity; it is the meaning that kayaking brings to the participants that makes the difference between an impactful programme and one that just turns out to be a kayak orientation programme for novices. And meaning comes with skilled facilitation derived from years of experience, which Explora has in abundance.

The outdoors enables a wide variety of learning outcomes in the areas of personal character development, teamwork and leadership. Specifically, they may be:
- Gaining personal confidence and mastery
- Learning about being part of a team
- Understanding specifically what makes an effective team
- Develop better interpersonal skills e.g. empathy and listening skills
- Leadership especially when outcomes are uncertain (as they usually are in the outdoors!)
We are also able to integrate DiSC, MBTI and other personality profiling systems into our programmes, to reinforce the individuals' learning gained from knowing their profiles. Naturally, we can also see how the team personality profile affects teamwork.
